What kind of water heaters are available?

Residential standard models

The residential standard models replace older water heaters that vent into your chimney, most of the time with your furnace. These are the least energy efficient models, and current federal tax incentives, make it a great time to upgrade. You know you have this model if the venting material is made from steel or aluminum.

Residential Pro Series models

A slight upgrade to residential standard models are the Rheem Pro Series models. These are also a metal vent water heater, but are slightly more energy efficient and come with longer warranties. Some utility companies may offer rebates for these models. Ask about the Rheem Pro Series water heaters.

Power Vent Water Heaters

These typically have a plastic vent that exits directly out the side of your home. These are much more energy efficient models. These heaters are now affordable, and outperform all other power vented water heaters. In fact, the AO Smith Vertex exceeds the output of most 75 gallon heaters, with just a 50 gallon tank.

On Demand Water Heaters or Tankless Water Heaters

We prefer the Eternal hybrid model that comes with a 2 gallon tank built in and a flow rate of up to 16GPM. These water heaters are 96% efficient and provide continuous hot water from up to 6 shower heads at the same time.
